Molecules in Blender
- We need to download the following file: Python script to import pdb files into Blender
- We extract the zip file. The archive contains the file pdb2blend.blend which is the native format of Blender.
- Double-click on the file to start Blender.
- Right-click on the window and choose the Execute script option.
- The file is transformed into a selection box. Choose the Sticks and Balls option, then Import your file.
Our molecule is in Blender but our object is composed of many parts that must be joined together before we do any transformation. First, in Object Mode, we select an atom with the RMB.
We press the Shift key and continue our selection.
We now press Ctrl-J to join the atoms and our molecule now has a textured look.
You can now test by rotating (R) or moving (G) our molecule.
Once all the elements are joined, you can move, render and animate.
